WHAT IS BOURBON COFFEE VARIETY

Bourbon is a coffee variety named after the island of Réunion (formerly known as Bourbon), where it was first discovered in the 18th century. It is a type of Arabica coffee and is considered one of the world’s most important and commercially valuable varieties.

Bourbon coffee plants are known for their ability to produce high-quality coffee with a sweet, fruity, and complex flavor profile. The plants are typically grown at high altitudes, where they can develop slowly and produce a denser bean with more complex flavors. They have a relatively low yield compared to other coffee varieties, but coffee connoisseurs highly value the quality of the coffee they produce.

Bourbon coffee is grown primarily in Central and South America, as well as in the highlands of East Africa. It is often blended with other coffee varieties to create unique flavor profiles, and specialty coffee roasters and cafes highly seek after it. There are several different sub-varieties of Bourbon coffee, including Yellow, Red, and Orange. Each sub-variety has its unique flavor profile, but they all share the sweet and fruity characteristics of Bourbon coffee.
